ICHA’s Response to the Consultation for new national standards for unregulated provision
Please find ICHA’s statement below:-
The ICHA welcomes the consultations and is particularly pleased to see that the opinions of children are being sought.
It is clear that every child, be they a new entry to the care system, transitioning from registered children’s homes or from foster care, will have unique needs for care or support. The quality standards that are developed must recognise this and enable the flexibility and the safeguarding required. Many should remain in the home they have been living in, for some with dual-registration with Ofsted and CQC, whilst others would benefit from specific semi-independence provision. All need to be subject to registration with quality standards designed to ensure children’s safeguarding and other needs are met as they achieve their majority.
ICHA and its members look forward to working with others to deliver this challenging goal.
