Description:

Brantwood is an Independent Specialist School for up to 50 children and young people aged 7-19. We are also a registered Children’s Home and offer 38 or 52 week provision. Placements within the school can be on a day or residential basis. Brantwood opened in September 2011 and is the newest member of the Ruskin Mill family and the first to offer full time education and care provision for young people aged between 7 and19 years of age.

For the past 25 years, Ruskin Mill Trust (RMT) has pioneered innovative and experimental education for young people with complex learning difficulties. Brantwood received a “Good” from Ofsted within its first year and have maintained a good grade.

The model at Brantwood will build on and develop the highly successful approach of its sister colleges located across the United Kingdom, providing the potential for seamless provision within the Trust from 7 to 25 years of age, if this is deemed appropriate for the individual young person. Access as appropriate to accredited qualifications (GCSE), National Open College Network
(NOCN), Ed Excel accredited BTEC within the Foundation Learning Programme, integrated resources of Brantwood Specialist School and Freeman College for students 14-19. Vocational pathways, work experience and work placements facilitated.
