Howard House Children’s Home and School is registered with OFSTED to accommodate up to eight young people of either gender, between the ages of 10 and 17.

Surrounded by farmland and set within three acres of private grounds, Howard House is a large stone built detached building. Externally, the grounds include a play area for the young people that includes a five side pitch, a large vegetable patch, manicured gardens, lawns and an orchard.

The purpose of the home is to provide a holistic, nurturing and caring environment to meet the emotional, physical, psychological and social needs of young people.

Individually tailored care plans are implemented, in order to help young people address their needs which can include the therapeutic input of a clinical psychologist. The children placed with us will be deemed to have a range of social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

Although we believe that, wherever possible, children and young people benefit from living within a family, we recognise that this is not always possible and that living in a residential home can be an appropriate alternative for some young people.

Howard House Care also offers a small provision registered for up to two young people named “Tile Sheds”, set in the beautiful scenic area of Northumberland’s National Park near Thropton.
Core educational provision is provided by Howard House School, as part of a personalised education plan which can include outdoor pursuits.
