Lighthouse is an independent children’s home based in Torbay, Devon for children and young persons between the ages of 11 to 17 years.
The Home provides stability and care for up to three young persons. It is an all-female children’s home for girls, who have experienced emotional or behavioural difficulties. It provides individual packages of care tailored to meet the needs and requirements of each young person.
Lighthouse is a positive choice for young people for whom residential care is the preferred option. Most placements are long-term but shorter placements are available for young people working towards independence or moving towards family placements.
Lighthouse offers a listening, caring, family orientated environment with the emphasis on working with each young person, their families and other professionals. It affords each young person the opportunity to have the ‘space to grow’ within which they can fulfil their full potential.
Lighthouse endeavours to promote and develop a culture based on empowerment, acceptance and learning. This is supported by a needs driven child-centred approach to care management. All staff are supported to work together to translate these core principles into practice, assisted by high quality training.
